Sir Alex Ferguson joins Sale Sharks ahead of Gallagher Premiership Final

Legendary football manager Sir Alex Ferguson gave the Sale Sharks players a team-talk, ahead of the 2023 Gallagher Premiership final this Saturday.

Ferguson was well-versed in bringing silverware to the Greater Manchester region, as the former manager of Premier League giants Manchester United.

Sale are about to embark on their first Premiership Final since 2006, and brought in the iconic manager to help prepare the team. City AM reported how Ferguson is an inspiration to Sale Sharks Head Coach Alex Sanderson, and the rest of the Sale Sharks squad.

Ferguson won the Premier League 13 times with United as well as two Champions League titles. The 81-year-old certainly knows how to bring home a trophy on the biggest stage, and it is not the first time that he has been brought in ahead of a high profile rugby match.

Former England Head Coach Eddie Jones utilised Sir Alex’s expertise, ahead of England’s 2019 Rugby World Cup Final against South Africa. Sale Sharks are without their captain Ben Curry, who suffered a hamstring injury after a controversial ‘crocodile roll’ against Leicester Tigers in the semi-final.

Saracens are considered favourites for the match, and are out to right the wrongs of last year’s Premiership Final.

A match-winning drop goal from Freddie Burns won the title for Leicester Tigers last season, with Sarries left distraught after the arduous campaign. Saracens are lining up their sixth Premiership title this weekend.
